RECORD REVIEWS (from Flex)

can't close my eyes [7"]

Rough & simple NY s.e. hardcore, great voice.First 7" pressing with red YOT logo on front cover, 2nd press on black vinyl, black and white labels, 3rd press: black vinyls, blue labels. I also heard about one pressing with a gold logo? About 3000-4000 made. 100 reissued on orange vinyl in 1987 by Jordan and Ray to trade for toys. + lyric sheet with all versions. 12" is remixed, 2 bonus tracks. German 12" available on yellow vinyl (first pressing). Revelation RI available on black and colored vinyl. Funny side-note: Ray Cappo was classmates with DJ Dmitri of Deelite at Danbury High.

break down the walls [LP / CD]

Great debut album, fast & angry s.e. hardcore, rough voice, fuzzed guitars. Yep.+ lyric sheet. 200 of the Wishingwell version on purple wax. First US CD version (Revelation) also contains Bold "speak out" LP; this version had strange pitch changes in some of the YOT tracks, probably the master tape got messed up. Second US CD without Bold LP, has one bonus track: "Youth of Today". German CD contains Can't Close 12" tracks (or just one bonus track? I'm not sure). Nearly all versions have different covers; two different Wishingwell covers (one blue/red and one black/gold), Revelation issue has a different sleeve, German LP has yet another, and the German CD is different to the German LP, too! First German vinyl pressing on yellow vinyl.

we're not in this alone [LP]

Second album, classic NY/straight edge hardcore. First version has a real brutal guitar sound, great, but you can hardly hear drums and bass. 2nd version sounds "better" but not as powerful.+ lyric sheet. German version is remixed and has a different cover + printed inner sleeve (no lyric sheet). Limited German pressing on yellow vinyl. We Bite reissue has the original US sleeve with blue/orange colors instead of red/white, also back cover & insert are different. This version is the first available on CD. Revelation RI available on black and colored vinyl.

anarchy in vienna [LP]

Recorded live in Vienna on their '89 European tour, sound quality is above average. All the hits. For fans & collectors.First Pressing (260 made) was a mispressing with Die Schlacht on side B (from Christ on Parade / Die Schlacht split LP), pic label on both sides. Second pressing (500 ?) w/o pic labels and with YOT on both sides (+ some Lethal Aggression tracks). Comes in gatefold paper sleeve.

Youth of today [7"]

Posthumous 7". Very powerful music and great vocals by Ray, also some melodies now. Too sad they didn't record more in that style.+ lyric sheet. ltd. ed. on clear vinyl. Early copies have color photos on lyric sheet, newer ones have b/w pix.

yesterday [7"]

6 tracks from two European live shows (Toulouse, France, mar 3 89, and Liverpool apr 1 1989), sound is pretty bootleg-ish but listenable; for collectors & fans.300 made, hand numbered.

take a stand [CD/LP]

Two different live shows; tracks 1-13 have excellent sound quality, clear & powerful. The rest has too much reverb on it which makes it sound too muddy. Still good for the first tracks.+ lyric booklet with CD. LP might have less tracks, reviewed format is CD.
